For thousands of years, the traditions of India have viewed the human being as a whole: a physical body, an energetic body, a mind, and a consciousness intimately connected.
In Ayurveda, whose name means “the science of life,” health is not simply the absence of illness. It is a state of balance in which energy flows freely throughout our entire being.
The sages of India observed that this life force moves through subtle channels known as nadis, like invisible rivers nourishing every part of the body. At certain points along these energetic pathways are centers of awareness and transformation known as chakras.
The word chakra means “wheel” or “circle.” These energy centers are often described as wheels of light in motion.
They do not need to be forced.
They do not need to be stimulated.
They simply ask to be listened to.
Over time, stress, unexpressed emotions, fears, wounds, or simply the pace of life can create areas where energy flows less freely.
This meditation is an invitation to gently return to that natural movement.
Not to fix anything.
Not to achieve a particular result.
But to cultivate a conscious relationship with your own energy.
Like a river finding its course again.
Like a breath flowing between Earth and Sky.
Find a comfortable position.
Gently close your eyes.
Allow your breathing to return to its natural rhythm.
Take a few moments to feel your presence here and now.
There is nothing to accomplish.
Nothing to achieve.
Only to experience.
If some chakras feel clear and present while others seem quiet, simply welcome that experience.
Each person has their own rhythm.
Energy has its own wisdom.
Grounding
The first chakra is associated with the color red.
It is located at the perineum.
Take a moment to sense its presence.
Imagine a gentle connection with the Earth beneath you.
Like the roots of an ancient tree extending deep into the soil.
When you feel ready, allow a red stream of light to rise from the heart of the Earth into this first energy center.
Remain here for a few moments, feeling stability and support.
The Flow of Life
The second chakra is associated with the color orange.
It is located below the navel.
Allow the energy to rise naturally from the first chakra into the second.
Feel its presence.
Its movement.
Its fluidity.
Then gently allow the energy to descend back to the first chakra and return to the Earth.
Take your time.
Inner Strength
The third chakra is associated with the color yellow.
It is located at the solar plexus.
Allow the energy to rise from the Earth, through the first and second chakras, into the third.
Feel this inner light.
This presence.
Then slowly allow the energy to descend once again to the Earth.
Like a wave returning to the ocean.
The Heart
The fourth chakra is green and may sometimes be tinged with pink.
It is located at the center of the chest.
Allow the energy to rise into this center.
Take time to feel this space.
The heart is the bridge between earth and sky.
Between the physical and the spiritual.
Between our humanity and our consciousness.
When you feel ready, allow the energy to gently descend back to the Earth.
Then return once more to the heart.
Authentic Expression
The fifth chakra is blue.
It is located at the throat.
From the heart, allow the energy to rise into this center.
Simply feel its presence.
Without analysis.
Without expectation.
Inner Vision
The sixth chakra is violet.
It is located between the eyebrows.
Allow the energy to continue its ascent.
Like a light gently illuminating the inner landscape of your being.
Opening to the Sky
The seventh chakra is a luminous milky white.
It is located at the crown of the head.
Allow the energy to rise into this center.
Then imagine this light continuing upward into the sky.
Like a beam extending into infinity.
Take a few moments to experience this connection.
Rooted in the earth.
Open to the sky.
When you feel ready, allow the energy to gently descend.
From the sky into the seventh chakra.
Then into the sixth.
The fifth.
The fourth.
The third.
The second.
The first.
And finally back into the earth.
Without haste.
Like a sacred breath.
To complete the practice, allow the energy to rise one final time from the earth into the fourth chakra.
The heart.
Let your awareness rest there.
For a few moments.
Without doing anything.
Without seeking anything.
Simply being.
With time, you may begin to perceive the subtle movements of energy more clearly.
Or perhaps not.
And that is perfectly fine.
The purpose of this meditation is not to create a particular experience.
Its purpose is to cultivate a more conscious relationship with yourself.
Eastern traditions teach that energy possesses its own natural intelligence.
When we stop trying to control it, it often finds its own balance.
Practice with gentleness.
With patience.
With respect.
And allow life to flow through you.
May your practice be blessed.
