Welcoming life’s slower seasons as an invitation rather than a delay.
The first sign that a passage has begun.
Every life is shaped by passages.
Some are visible.
Others unfold entirely in silence.
These pages are offered as a gentle pause along the way, accompanying those quiet spaces where the soul grows, often without us even realizing it.
There comes a time when life begins to slow down.
Sometimes, it is the body that can no longer keep the same pace.
Sometimes, circumstances gently invite us to stop.
And sometimes, nothing seems to have changed at all.
And yet…
We sense that we can no longer move through life as we once did.
At first, we resist.
We believe we have lost something.
Our momentum.
Our energy.
Our ability to keep doing.
We watch others continue to run, and we wonder why we have been left behind.
But what if slowing down is not falling behind?
What if it is an invitation?
Nature understands this language.
A tree does not blossom all year long.
A river does not always flow with the same strength.
Even the earth appears to rest before offering a new harvest.
Why should we be the only ones expected to move forward without ever slowing down?
Our world celebrates speed.
It applauds those who accomplish more, faster.
Yet the deepest transformations rarely happen in haste.
A heart learns slowly.
Forgiveness matures slowly.
Healing follows its own rhythm.
And the soul…
The soul never rushes.
Sometimes, slowing down is life’s way of protecting us.
For a while, it gently leads us away from everything that scatters our attention.
It brings us back to what truly matters.
Not to take something away from us.
But to help us rediscover what has always been there.
Perhaps you are living through such a season today.
Perhaps you feel that you are no longer moving forward as you once did.
If so, allow me to leave you with this thought.
Not everything that slows down is fading away.
Some things slow down because they are growing deeper roots.
Perhaps life is not asking you to move faster.
Perhaps it is simply teaching you another way to walk.
Is there an area of your life where you are still resisting the invitation to slow down?
What if this slower season is not a loss…
Prepare a meal.
Take a short walk.
Enjoy a cup of tea without looking at the time.
Give yourself permission not to hurry.
Then notice what begins to change within you when you stop running.
A Light to Carry With You
Life does not always slow us down to stop us.
Sometimes, it slows us down so we can find ourselves again.
